Biodiversity studies and monitoring of animal species (including invasive or potentially invasive ones on the national territory), CAEN 7219
Summary:
The ICB Cluj-Napoca offer aims to carry out studies on biodiversity and monitoring of animal species, including invasive/potentially invasive ones, in natural and anthropized ecosystems, requested either by economic agents or as deliverables provided for in research contracts carried out in partnership.
In accordance with Regulation 1143/2014, Art 24(1), every six years, the Member States of the European Union must transmit to the specialized commission the distribution of invasive alien species of interest for the Union, or of regional interest, including information on migration and reproduction patterns.
Also, every six years, based on Article 17 of the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC, the conservation status of habitats and species of Community interest in protected natural areas of European interest is monitored. ICB Cluj-Napoca participated in the implementation of the system for monitoring the conservation status of species and habitats of community interest in Romania, as well as in the development of management plans for the conservation of biodiversity in several Natura 2000 sites.
The objectives pursued:
(i) Acquiring knowledge regarding faunal biodiversity in the targeted ecosystems and elucidating the functional relationships between the various components of the biocenoses;
(ii) Rational, sustainable use of bioresources;
(iii) Identifying invasive/potentially invasive species and their location, developing regional/national maps;
(iv) Establishing the degree of danger from an ecological, economic, health or comfort point of view, brought by each of these species;
(v) Monitoring the degree of penetration, acclimatization, reproduction and spread of invasive/potentially invasive animal species and the changes produced in natural ecosystems, as well as the economic effects;
(vi) Ways to combat invasive species in natural ecosystems, with minimal effects on native species in these ecosystems;
(vii) Ways to disseminate information to economic agents, city halls, etc. to raise awareness among the population not to contribute to the reproduction and especially the spread in nature of alien species (pets, insects used as food for reptiles, etc.);
(viii) Lobbying higher authorities (MCID, etc.) for the granting of accreditation to specialized institutions for the periodic conduct of monitoring studies of invasive or potentially invasive alien species.
Offer description
ICB Cluj-Napoca has a long tradition in studying biodiversity in different types of ecosystems, especially the Carpathian ones, functional ecology and assessing the effects of climate change on flora and fauna. The research team, with interests in the field of animal taxonomy and ecology, has extensive experience attested by numerous publications and collaborations in national and European projects.
Innovative aspects of the offer
Increasing knowledge by applying the latest methods and techniques for exploring biodiversity, inventorying and monitoring animal species, including invasive/potentially invasive ones, developing models of interaction between the various components of biosystems, as well as between them and abiotic factors.
Advantages of the offer
Speed, professionalism, quality, advantageous price.
