My work explores the complexity of phytoplankton species spanning from morphology, ecology, plasticity and phylogeny. The topics I`m interested in are:
- The integration of species concepts for unicellular photosynthetic eukaryotes, a hotly disputed topic because to their vast diversity, complex life cycles, and limits of traditional species conceptions.
- Photosynthetic microorganisms as cell factories for secondary metabolites production.
- Diversity of photosynthetic microorganisms from Romanian freshwaters.
