Dr. Ali Ger
Scientific ResearcherI am a plankton ecologist interested in how global change affects the function and services of aquatic habitats. In experiments I test the effects stressors including eutrophication and cyanobacterial blooms, warming, allochthonous organic matter runoff, and salinization on the physiology, traits, trophic interactions, and ecological functions of plankton. Recently, I am collaborating with global dataset managers (e.g., GLEON) and also involved in EU funded projects looking at the effects of eutrophication on pollinators, joining experimental data with modeling and monitoring for a more robust and mechanistic understanding of nature under global change stressors.
