Scientific Researcher II
INSTITUTE OF BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH – ICB Cluj-Napoca

My major scientific contributions are in the field of plant molecular biology, where I gathered expertise in a wide range of molecular techniques, such as Sanger sequencing, DNA fingerprinting techniques: AFLP, SSR, ddRADseq, DNA metabarcoding. During the last years, my main scientific interests and activities have been focused on: molecular taxonomy, phylogeography, population genetics and biotechnology research in plants.

My research includes, but is not limited to:
  • molecular taxonomic studies on plant species from local flora;

  • assessment of phylogeographic structure of several plant taxa representative for the European Alpine System;

  • plant population genetics;

  • plant biotechnology research on cultivated plant species, such as: lettuce, tomato, and maize, with the aim to assess the genetic stability of in vitro or cryopreserved regenerants, or with the aim of obtaining new hybrids with improved nutritional qualities.
